Core Commitment: MoonSound is a local-first aesthetic time and white noise tool. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Your focus and relaxation data belong solely to you.
1. Our Privacy Philosophy
We believe that your personal space and focus time should be completely private. MoonSound is designed to operate entirely on your device without any backend infrastructure. We have no way to know who you are or how you use the app.
2. Data We Do NOT Collect
- No User Accounts: There is no sign-up or login process. We do not know your name, email, or identity.
- No Telemetry or Tracking: We do not use third-party analytics (like Google Analytics or Firebase) to track your behavior.
- No Data Transmission: No data is ever sent to our servers because we don't operate any.
- No Advertising: MoonSound contains no third-party ads or tracking SDKs.
3. Local Data Storage
Any data created during your use of MoonSound is stored locally on your device using system frameworks (UserDefaults and local file storage):
- Mix Presets: Your custom white noise combinations are saved only on your device.
- Focus History: Your past focus sessions and statistics are stored locally.
- Settings: Your preferences for clock styles, themes, and language are saved locally.
- Wallpaper Preferences: Your choice of background and vibe is stored on-device.
4. Permissions & Hardware Access
- Photo Library: If you choose to set a custom photo as a wallpaper or save a Bing daily image to your library, we request access to your photos. This process happens entirely on-device; no images are ever uploaded.
- Audio: We use system audio frameworks to play high-quality white noise. We do not access your microphone or record any sound.
- On-Demand Resources (ODR): The app downloads high-quality audio files from Apple's App Store servers as needed. This is a standard iOS system feature and does not involve sharing personal data with us.
5. Third-Party Content
MoonSound offers the ability to fetch high-quality backgrounds from external services:
- Bing Daily Wallpaper: Images are fetched directly from Microsoft Bing servers.
- Pexels & Pixabay: When you search for vibes, the app communicates directly with these image platforms to display results.
When using these features, your IP address may be visible to these third-party providers as part of the standard web request, but MoonSound does not share any other identifiers with them.
6. Children's Privacy
Since we do not collect any personal information, MoonSound is safe for children. We do not knowingly collect or request any information from users of any age.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
All data is stored on your device. To delete all MoonSound data, simply uninstall the app. iOS will automatically remove all local storage associated with the app.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally to reflect changes in iOS requirements or app features. The latest version will always be available within the app or on our website.
